- What makes a great driving school in Malawi today? In an exclusive interview, Charles Kazembe, Pupu Driving School Managing Director spoke to our reporter how his company is making a difference.

- With rising vehicle ownership and expanding economic activity, driving is no longer a luxury skill, but a necessity. But in an overcrowded market of driving schools that we have in urban towns, what truly defines a great one?
- “For many people, driving school is about one thing- getting a licence, but that mindset is part of the problem. A great driving school must go far beyond preparing learners to satisfy minimum requirements set by authorities such as the Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services. While passing the road test is essential, it should be the outcome of real competence, and not shortcuts.” Says Charles Kazembe.
STEERING THE FUTURE
“In an environment where road accidents remain a concern, we have a duty to produce drivers who understand defensive driving, hazard perception, and road ethics. We are not just teaching steering and pedals, at Pupu, we are shaping behavior,” the Managing Director notes.
A learner today faces a completely different road environment compared to ten years ago.
